Successful bat mitigation for the Landmark Trust
We sometimes get to work on some more unusual properties. When working with the Landmark Trust on Saddell Estate near Campbelltown, we were working to preserve both architectural heritage and local bat populations. Working with a team of professionals and Saddell Castle was renovated and is due to open in September 2025!
To ensure the Landmark Trust’s guests can still enjoy the property, we created alternative bat roosts for Soprano pipistrelles, Common pipistrelles, and Brown long-eared bats, as well as placing a range of bat boxes in nearby trees. Bat roosts are not a dealbreaker when renovating a large property or barn conversion, but instead something to consider as part of your planning.
It is absolutely possible to complete renovations and look after the bats, even when initial surveys indicate a lot of bats roosting in a property!
How to Balance Bats & Architecture
We regularly work with architects to find sensitive solutions that meet your needs and look after the bats. The easiest way to make sure your project runs smoothly is to get in touch with us as early as possible, or send your architect a link to our free Bat Awareness Training for Architects!
If you need a bat survey (or think you might) get in touch with our team of specialist ecologists!
