Bats in Shetland?

Shetland lies far north of mainland Scotland, yet bats occasionally reach the islands. These individuals are known as vagrants, as no resident bat populations are currently known in Shetland. Most records come from autumn, when migrating or dispersing bats can be carried off course by winds or weather patterns.
